The Tata Tiago entered its tenth year with its biggest update yet, launched on 28 May 2026. The new model wears slim LED headlamps, a narrower grille, and 15-inch diamond-cut alloys on top trims. Inside, a redesigned dashboard carries a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a digital driver's display, and fabric trim across the doors. Six airbags now come standard on every variant, a first for this class. Power comes from the familiar 1.2-litre petrol engine with 86hp or a factory-fitted iCNG option with 75.5hp, each paired with a 5-speed manual or AMT. The lineup spans 20 variants across six trims: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Pure+ A, Creative, and Creative+. Top trims add a 360-degree camera, cruise control, and wireless charging. It rivals the Maruti Swift, Celerio, and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.

Excellent experience with Tata Tiago
The Tata Tiago has been a fantastic addition to our family garage. The ride quality is smooth even on the broken roads near my locality. Five stars from my end, thoroughly satisfied with the purchase.

My honest Tata Tiago ownership review
Bought the Tata Tiago for daily office commute in Patna traffic and it handles it like a champ. The build quality feels solid and the interiors are nicely finished for this price point. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking in this segment.

Decent value: Tata Tiago
The Tata Tiago does most things right but there's room for improvement. Performance is adequate though I expected slightly better throttle response. Not perfect but definitely value for money.
CarzOnWheel's in-depth analysis of Tata Tiago
Ten years, one engine, and now the biggest update this car has ever received. Tata launched the new Tiago model on 28 May 2026 with a fresh face, a rebuilt cabin, and six airbags on every single variant. But the update also took a few things away that you should be aware of.
From the front, you would not connect this car to the old one. Slim LED headlamps sit over a narrower grille, the bumpers are new, and Creative and Creative Plus trims ride on 15-inch diamond-cut alloys. The top trim even gets a gloss black roof.
The Tata Tiago interior is where the money went. A 10.25-inch touchscreen pairs with a standalone digital driver's display, fabric trim runs across the dashboard and doors, and AMT variants swap the gear lever for a rotary selector. Higher trims add automatic climate control with rear vents, cruise control, a 360-degree camera, and a cooled glovebox. For a hatchback that starts under ₹5 lakh, that list reads like a class above. The catch shows up when you press the starter.
The engine is the one thing Tata refused to touch. The Tata Tiago engine cc stays at 1199, a three-cylinder petrol making 86hp and 113Nm, while the CNG version makes 75.5hp and 96.5Nm. Both pair with a 5-speed manual or an AMT. And the Tata Tiago automatic is an AMT, not a torque converter, so expect the typical head-nod between shifts. The CNG AMT softens that with paddle shifters, which no rival in this class offers.
The car has grown, though. The Tata Tiago dimensions now read 3813mm long, 1684mm wide and 1535mm tall on a 2400mm wheelbase. The Tata Tiago ground clearance stands at 170mm for petrol and 168mm for CNG, among the highest here. The petrol boot holds 242 litres. The CNG loses a slice of that to twin cylinders under the luggage floor, but the layout keeps the boot usable instead of eating it whole.
The Tata Tiago mileage petrol figure is 20.09 kmpl for the manual and 19 kmpl for the automatic, per ARAI. City traffic pulls that into the mid-teens, and steady highway runs get close to the claim.
The Tata Tiago CNG is where the running cost math turns. The Tata Tiago CNG mileage is 26.49 km/kg with the manual and 28.06 km/kg with the AMT on the ARAI cycle. So the automatic is the more efficient one here, which almost never happens. Owners report 20 to 22 km/kg in city running, and that gap over petrol is the whole reason this variant exists.
Here honesty matters. The Tata Tiago safety rating everyone quotes, 4 stars for adult occupants and 3 stars for child occupants, came from a Global NCAP test in 2020 on the older car under an older protocol. The Tiago has no official Bharat NCAP score yet, so treat the stars as history, not a current certificate.
What you get on the new car is real hardware. Six airbags, ESC, ISOFIX anchors and a strengthened bodyshell, with the 360-degree camera on top trims. No rival gives you six airbags on its base variant.
The update removed the rear seat headrests, and the Harman audio system is gone, replaced by a plain 4-speaker unit. Panel gaps on the bonnet and boot lid stand out too. None of these are dealbreakers. But at Creative+ money, you should know what you are giving up.
The Tata Tiago price starts from ₹4.70 lakh to ₹8.55 lakh ex-showroom. The Tata Tiago on road price starts near ₹5.11 lakh and stretches to ₹9.81 lakh depending on your city, with the CNG range opening at ₹5.79 lakh ex-showroom.
Buy it if you want the best-equipped, most solidly built hatchback at this price, or the only CNG automatic in the class. Skip it if engine refinement or resale value tops your list, because the Maruti Swift still wins there. The Tiago spent ten years being the sensible choice. The 2026 update finally makes it a desirable one too.
