Maruti Suzuki Brezza had three real problems: it was slow, the cabin felt cheap, and its safety was assumed rather than tested. The 2026 Brezza facelift fixes all three. There's a new 109bhp turbo petrol, a better-equipped interior, and a five-star Bharat NCAP rating.

But the new turbo only comes with a manual gearbox. Choose an automatic and you're back to the old, slower engine. There's no diesel either. Whether that trade-off is worth it is what I uncover in this expert review.

What's New in the 2026 Brezza Facelift

Maruti Brezza changes outside are measured rather than dramatic. There's a redesigned smoke-chrome grille with a wider bull bar and a reinforced skid plate, LED projector headlamps with DRLs, new precision-cut alloy wheels, rugged side cladding and fresh dual-tone roof options. Turbo variants get their own badging at the rear. Ten colours options are offered, including Lustrous Beige, Sizzling Red, Vivacious Orange, Magma Grey and Pearl Arctic White, several available with a Bluish Black roof. Interior, Space and Boot

Inside is where Maruti Brezza made the biggest changes. The old 9-inch touchscreen has been replaced by a 10.1-inch SmartPlay Pro X unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, built-in Alexa, over-the-air updates and Arkamys-tuned audio. Higher variants add ventilated front seats with three cooling levels, 64-colour ambient lighting, a wireless charger with active cooling, leatherette upholstery and Suzuki Connect Gen 3.0.

Space is unchanged and still good — when I sat there with my two friends, we fit across the rear bench without much fuss, and the 328-litre brezza boot space was enough for our weekend trip. 

The bigger news I have for CNG buyers is, the tanks now sit under the floor, so you finally keep your luggage room. What hasn't changed is plastic quality. It's hard-wearing but plain.

Which Brezza Engine to Choose: Turbo, 1.5 Petrol or CNG?

This is where you have three engine options to decide to decide which one to choose:

Option 1 : Brezza New 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol Engine

The new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine, making 109bhp and 170Nm — tuned roughly 10hp and 23Nm above the same engine in the Fronx. It's genuinely quicker in traffic and more relaxed on the highway.
But the catch here is — it comes only with a six-speed manual.

Option 1 : 1.5-litre K15C Petrol Engine

The familiar 1.5-litre K15C petrol continues with 102bhp and 139Nm, and it's the only way to get an automatic — a six-speed torque converter. The old five-speed manual is gone; both petrols now use six-speed manuals.

Option 1 : Brezza CNG

Maruti Brezza CNG uses the 1.5-litre engine, making 86bhp and 121.5Nm with a manual gearbox.

So the trade-off is blunt. Want the turbo? You must drive a manual. Want two pedals for city drives? You get the slower engine. And there is no Brezza diesel at all.

Brezza Mileage and Running Costs

Maruti Suzuki Brezza ARAI certified mileage is: 21.09kmpl for the 1.5 manual, 20.17kmpl for the automatic and 20.47kmpl for the turbo manual. Loaded dual-tone automatics drop to 19.8kmpl. CNG returns 26.9km/kg. The Brezza fuel tank capacity is 48 litres.

The useful takeaway is that the Brezza turbo engine costs you almost nothing in efficiency. Iit's actually marginally better than the automatic. And if your monthly running is high and CNG pumps are convenient, the CNG is far cheaper to run than anything else.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Safety Rating: Now a 5 Star Car

The Brezza safety rating is now five stars in Bharat NCAP for both adult occupant protection (30.41 of 32) and child occupant protection (43 of 49). That's a strong, credible result. Six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX mounts and a tyre pressure monitor are standard, while higher variants add a 360-degree camera, head-up display and blind spot monitor. For family buyers, this is the single strongest reason to shortlist the car.

Brezza Variants List and Which One to Buy

There are 19 Maruti Brezza variants across LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi Plus. The Brezza base model, LXi Turbo is priced at ₹7,39,900, is the cheapest model to a turbo engine in this segment, though it makes do with halogen lights and steel wheels. 

Brezza VXi variant is the sensible family pick. ZXi adds the sunroof — a single-pane electric unit, not a panoramic one, plus the 360-degree camera. The Brezza top model, ZXi Plus AT Dual Tone, is priced at ₹13,70,500.

If I had to choose: ZXi Turbo manual for drivers, ZXi automatic for city commuters.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Price: Ex-Showroom and On-Road

Maruti Brezza price starts from ₹7.40 lakh to ₹13.71 lakh ex-showroom. CNG variants sit between ₹9.30 lakh and ₹11.66 lakh, automatics between ₹10.61 lakh and ₹13.71 lakh. Maruti Brezza on-road price starts around ₹8.55 to ₹8.63 for the base variant, the top variant on-road price comes to ₹16.25 lakk.

Brezza vs Rivals

The Maruti Fronx (₹6.85–11.98 lakh) undercuts Brezza with the same turbo engine but less rear space. The Tata Nexon (₹7.37–14.22 lakh) and Hyundai Venue (₹8–15.83 lakh) still offer diesel and feel plusher inside. The Mahindra XUV 3XO (₹7.79–15.04 lakh) leads on features. The Tata Punch (₹5.70–10.67 lakh) is cheaper and currently outsells it. The Brezza's counter punnch is cabin space, efficiency, resale value and 198mm of Brezza ground clearance.

Verdict: Should You Buy the Maruti Suzuki Brezza?

The 2026 facelift fixes the Brezza's two genuine weaknesses. It's now properly quick when you want it to be, and it's now demonstrably safe. Ground clearance, cabin space and running costs were always strengths, and the CNG is better than ever now that the boot survives intact.

Buy it if you want a low-risk family SUV with cheap running costs and dependable resale. Think harder if you want a premium-feeling cabin, a diesel, or a turbo engine paired with an automatic — because that last combination simply doesn't exist here. Judged honestly, this is a very good car rather than an exciting one.
