But the way the Fronx splits its strengths and weaknesses makes the buying decision cautious. This guide breaks down what each rupee buys you, what Maruti Suzuki leaves out, and where the Fronx actually stands out.
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx price starts at ₹6.85 lakh for the base Sigma 1.2-litre petrol manual and goes up to ₹11.98 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec Alpha Turbo DT AT.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx on-road price runs roughly 13-16% above ex-showroom once you add RTO registration, road tax, and first-year insurance. In Delhi, that puts the base Sigma at around ₹7.6-7.8 lakh on-road, and the fully loaded Alpha Turbo AT close to ₹13.5-13.8 lakh.
Sigma is the base model of Maruti Fronx. It comes with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, LED tail lamps, and manual AC. There is no touchscreen and no music system at all on this trim.
Delta and Delta+ are where we would recommend you look. Both add a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, steering-mounted controls, and LED DRLs.
Delta+ additionally gets alloy wheels and a dual-tone paint option. This pair covers daily commuting needs without forcing you into the turbo engine's higher price bracket.
Zeta Turbo is the first trim to get the 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine as standard, alongside automatic climate control, push-button start, cruise control, a wireless phone charger, and 16-inch alloy wheels. If performance matters to you and budget allows, this is the practical sweet spot.
Alpha is the fully loaded trim of Maruti Suzuki Fronx. It comes with a 360-degree camera, head-up display, Suzuki Connect connected-car features, LED projector headlamps, and the 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen.
Where most cars in this segment look the same, the Suzuki Fronx slopes its roofline down toward the rear in a coupe-like line. This is a defining silhouette that differs Fronx from other conventional compact SUVs.
When you see it from the front, the Fronx gets a tall bonnet, a large grille flanked by squared headlamps, and bumper-integrated lighting elements. LED projector headlamps and LED DRLs are reserved for the Alpha trim; lower variants make do with halogen units. At the rear, sleek tail lamps connected by a light bar and a roof spoiler complete the design.
Ground clearance sits at 190mm, which Maruti Suzuki achieved by raising the suspension 20mm over the Baleno it is based on, paired with larger 195/60 R16 tyres. This is genuinely useful on Indian roads with speed breakers and potholes, not just a marketing number.
The Fronx comes in 10 colour options, including dual-tone combinations like Earthen Brown with a Bluish Black roof, and Splendid Silver with a Bluish Black roof. Dual-tone paint is locked to the Delta+ trim and above.
Step inside, and the cabin uses a dual-tone theme. The touchscreen sits high on the dash in a floating design, which keeps it within easy reach and improves visibility while driving.
Seats get fabric upholstery across the range, with the driver's seat offering height adjustment on higher trims. Rear seat space is reasonable for two adults, though three abreast gets tight, and that sloping coupe roof does eat into rear headroom, which taller passengers will notice on longer drives.
The boot holds 308 litres, which is 10 litres less than the Baleno because of a slightly raised loading floor needed for that coupe styling. It is enough for a family's weekend bags but tight if you are planning a full road trip. CNG variants lose further usable boot space to the tank, so factor that in if you are choosing the CNG option specifically for family use.
What the interior misses, and this matters for anyone cross-shopping with the segment: there is no ventilated seat option on any trim, no rear armrest, and the loading lip into the boot is high enough to make lifting heavy items mildly annoying.
Six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and hill hold assist come standard across every Fronx variant. ISOFIX child seat mounts are also standard. This is a genuinely strong baseline that several rivals only offer on mid or top trims.
Where the safety story gets complicated is independent crash testing. The India-spec Fronx has not been tested by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP as of mid-2026. A made-in-India Fronx exported to Australia was tested by ANCAP in late 2025 and scored only 1 star, with weak chest protection results in both the frontal offset and full-width tests. A separate export unit tested in Japan's JNCAP scored 4 stars, but that version carries an ADAS package not sold in India, so the result does not transfer to the Indian model.
The Fronx offers three distinct powertrain options, and which one suits you depends entirely on how you drive, not on which one is "better."
The 1.2-litre K12N petrol makes about 88.5bhp and 113Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT. This is the engine if you drive mainly in cities. It is smooth, refined for its size, and the ARAI-claimed mileage runs 21.79 kmpl on manual and 22.89 kmpl on AMT, making it one of the more fuel-efficient options in the segment regardless of transmission choice.
The 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol makes around 99bhp and 147.6Nm, available with a 6-speed manual or a genuine 6-speed torque-converter automatic. This engine has real mid-range pull, which makes highway overtakes effortless compared to the 1.2-litre. The trade-off is mileage: dropping to 20.01 kmpl on the automatic. It also has a known weak spot below 2,500rpm, where throttle response feels soft until the turbo spools up.
The 1.2-litre CNG variant, available only on Sigma and Delta, makes about 76bhp and 98.5Nm, with the Fronx mileage on CNG rated at 28.51 km/kg. Power drops noticeably in CNG mode, so this works for you if you prioritise running cost over outright performance.
Top-spec Alpha variants get a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a head-up display projecting speed and navigation onto the windscreen, a 360-degree camera, and Suzuki Connect, which gives you remote vehicle status and geo-fencing through a smartphone app. The head-up display in particular is a genuine segment-first at this price point, and it is a feature you will actually use every drive.
Mid-trims (Delta, Delta+, Zeta) scale this back to a smaller touchscreen, still with wireless phone mirroring, but without the HUD or 360-camera. Automatic climate control, cruise control, and push-button start arrive from Zeta upward, not before.
What is conspicuously absent across the entire range: no sunroof on any variant, including the top-spec Alpha. This puts the Fronx at a real disadvantage against the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet. Maruti Suzuki is expected to add a single-pane electric sunroof with the upcoming facelift. There are also no rear parking sensors, no automatic wipers, and no tyre pressure monitoring system.
Manual AC comes standard on Sigma, with automatic single-zone climate control arriving from Zeta upward. Rear AC vents are available from Delta onward, which is a meaningful comfort feature for rear passengers on longer drives in Indian summers.

Choose the Fronx if you want SUV-like road presence and ground clearance without giving up hatchback running costs, and if a sunroof is not a non-negotiable for you. The Delta+ or Zeta trims represent the most sensible value in the lineup, covering daily-use features without forcing you into the most expensive configurations.
Skip it, or at least cross-shop carefully, if you need a sunroof, want certified crash-test safety scores before buying, or regularly carry five passengers with luggage for long trips, where the smaller boot and tighter rear headroom will be felt.
