5 Car Launches in May 2026 That YOU Should Keep Your Eyes On
A legendary name goes electric, Honda shows up with two cars in one day, and MG finally delivers a Fortuner-rivalling beast.

May 2026 is a strange month for car launches. You've got a ₹12 lakh family sedan sharing the calendar with a ₹50 lakh diesel SUV that didn't even have a segment name until recently. Something for nearly everyone, basically.
Tata Sierra EV

The Sierra name alone does half the marketing job. When the ICE version opened bookings in March, it pulled in 70,000 orders on day one. The Tata Sierra EV follows around May 19, and the momentum isn't likely to slow down.
It sits on Tata's Gen 2 Acti.ev platform. Same bones as the Curvv EV and Harrier EV. Two battery options, 55 kWh and 65 kWh, with real-world range probably falling between 350 and 420 km depending on how you drive. Final ARAI numbers come at launch.
The Tata Sierra EV price should start near ₹20 lakh ex-showroom, topping out around ₹25 lakh for the AWD variant. Add ₹3–4 lakh on-road in Delhi or Mumbai. That puts it right in the middle of a proper fight: the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, and the Toyota Ebella are all circling the same buyer.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella

Toyota showed the Urban Cruiser Ebella in January. Bookings have been open since. But actual prices and delivery timelines are only being confirmed in May, so this month is really when it gets real.
The platform is shared with the Maruti e Vitara. Three variants, two battery sizes of 49 kWh and 61 kWh. Toyota claims 543 km range on the larger pack. Realistically, with AC running through an Indian summer, 300 to 380 km is a more honest number.
Prices should land between ₹18 lakh and ₹25 lakh. Top-spec gets ventilated seats, panoramic roof, 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, JBL audio, ambient lighting. Toyota is also offering an 8-year battery warranty plus a Battery as a Service programme that can cut the upfront cost meaningfully. Worth understanding before you dismiss it.
MG Majestor

MG announced the prices of Majester on April 27, deliveries begin in May. And if you're currently considering a Fortuner, at least look at this before signing anything.
The MG Majestor is 5,046 mm long, 2,016 mm wide, 1,876 mm tall. The Fortuner is smaller on every single measurement. MG is calling it a D+ SUV. A segment that essentially didn't exist in India before this car.
Engine is a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel making 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic. RWD or 4WD with 10 terrain modes and a triple differential lock on the top variant. Not just off-road badging, actually capable stuff.
Inside: massage seats, panoramic roof, 12.3-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch driver display, Level 2 ADAS, JBL audio, 64-colour ambient lighting, six airbags, 360-degree camera across variants. Pricing sits between ₹40–48 lakh ex-showroom. Hard to ignore at that number.
Honda's Double-Launch on May 22
Honda is launching two cars on the same day. Different ends of the market, one event.
Honda City Facelift

The fifth-gen Honda City gets its second update. New headlamps, revised bumpers, fresh alloys, probably a new colour. The big addition is a 360-degree camera, which rivals have had for a while. Engines stay as is: 1.5-litre NA petrol at 121 PS, hybrid delivering 126 PS combined with a claimed 27.26 kpl. Pricing should stay close to the current ₹12–20.5 lakh range. If you've been waiting, this gives you a slightly better City at more or less the same money.
Honda ZR-V Hybrid

This one's different. CBU import, positioned as Honda's most premium offering in India outside the CR-V. A 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle hybrid making 180 PS and 240 Nm, e-CVT, 12-speaker Bose system, multi-zone climate, Google Assistant baked into the infotainment. Expected between ₹40–55 lakh ex-showroom, putting it up against the Skoda Kodiaq and Tiguan. Though the hybrid running costs should work in its favour. Stock will be tight initially. If this sits in your budget, reach out to a Honda dealer before May 22.
