MG Majestor Vs Toyota Innova Hycross Comparison 2026: Which 7-Seater to Buy

One promises efficiency. The other promises capability. If you're spending ₹40 lakh, the wrong choice could be expensive.

MG Majestor Vs Toyota Innova Hycross Comparison 2026: Which 7-Seater to Buy

The MG Majestor went on sale today at ₹40.99 lakh ex-showroom. That puts it ₹10 lakh above the top Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid, which sits around ₹32 lakh. Same seat count. Same family pitch. Two completely different cars.

So if you have ₹40 lakh and seven people to move, which one deserves your money? The honest answer surprises most buyers.

MG Majestor 2026: What ₹40.99 Lakh Buys You

The MG Majestor is huge. 5,046 mm long, 2,016 mm wide, 1,876 mm tall. The wheelbase stretches to 2,950 mm, ground clearance hits 219 mm, and the SUV wades through 810 mm of standing water without flinching. MG calls it India's first D+ SUV. The numbers back the claim.

A 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel pushes out 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm through an 8-speed automatic. The top ₹44.99 lakh trim adds proper 4WD, ten terrain modes, and a triple differential lock. This is not pretend off-road. This is the real thing.

Inside, you get dual 12.3-inch screens, ventilated and massaging front seats, a panoramic sunroof, JBL audio, and Level 2 ADAS as standard. Choose six or seven seats. Boot space starts at 343 litres and opens up to 1,350 litres with the third row folded. Six airbags. Body-on-frame chassis. The Toyota Fortuner is the obvious rival here, not the Hycross.

Toyota Innova Hycross 2026: The Hybrid Everyone Tried to Copy

Innova Hycross runs on Toyota's TNGA-C monocoque platform. Front-wheel drive only. No 4WD. No ladder frame. That is the whole point of this car.

The version that matters is the 2.0-litre strong hybrid with an eCVT gearbox. Combined output is 184 bhp. ARAI claims 23.24 kmpl. Real-world numbers settle around 13 kmpl in city traffic and 18 kmpl on highways, so a mixed cycle returns 15 to 16 kmpl. Even at city numbers, this is class-leading for a 1,710 kg MPV.

It measures 4,755 mm long and sits 185 mm off the ground. Seven seats, with Ottoman-style second-row recliners on the top ZX trims. Bharat NCAP gave it a full five stars. Toyota has sold over two lakh Hycross units in India since 2022.

Hycross vs Majestor: The One Cost Number That Changes Everything

Here is the part most comparison videos miss. Drive 15,000 km a year, and the Hycross hybrid will save you roughly ₹80,000 in fuel over the Majestor diesel. Over five years, that's almost ₹4 lakh back in your pocket, before counting service costs.

But the Majestor never tried to win on running cost. It plays a different game. Presence. Capability. The kind of road manners that make people in your lane move over. Two cars, two very different ideas of what a ₹40 lakh family vehicle should be.

MG Majestor vs Innova Hycross: Who Should Buy What

Buy the Innova Hycross hybrid if your week looks like school runs, office commutes, mall trips, and an occasional Lonavala weekend. Fuel savings stack up fast. Resale stays bulletproof, like every Innova before it. Toyota service quality is unmatched at this price. Most Indian families fit this profile cleanly.

Buy the MG Majestor if your idea of family life includes Ladakh runs, a farmhouse off a kuccha road, or just the satisfaction of owning every road you drive on. The 4x4 Savvy at ₹44.99 lakh is the real product here. The 4x2 trim at ₹40.99 lakh sits in an awkward spot, since you pay full SUV price without the off-road hardware.

Do not buy the Majestor expecting Hycross efficiency. And do not buy the Hycross expecting Fortuner road presence. Different lives. Different cars.
