4 Upcoming Electric Cars Maruti is Going to Launch in India

Maruti is India's biggest carmaker. They currently sell just one electric car. Let that sink in. The Maruti e-Vitara, which arrived in February 2026 at ₹15.99 lakh, ex-showroom.. But the list of upcoming Maruti cars tells a bigger story. By 2031, four more are coming, and every single one is electric. No new petrol hatch grabbing the spotlight. Just EVs.

Maruti Suzuki YMC Electric MPV to Launch in March 2027

Start with the one landing first. The Maruti YMC is a seven-seat electric MPV, and will be launched by March 2027. Think of it as an electric Ertiga for families who want the space without the fuel bills. It rides on the e-Vitara's platform, so expect the 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs and a claimed range near 543 km. In real city traffic with the AC on, plan for closer to 400 km. At about 4.5 metres long, it should seat three rows and bring Level 2 ADAS and a panoramic sunroof. Pricing isn't out, but ₹20 to ₹25 lakh ex-showroom looks likely, so add a lakh or more on-road. Its rival? The Kia Carens Clavis EV.

Maruti YTV: A Sub-4m Electric SUV Aimed at the Tata Nexon EV

Next comes the volume play. Codenamed YTV, this is a sub-four-metre electric SUV, and it could land as an electric Brezza or Fronx in all but name. That matters, because both already sell in huge numbers, so the badge alone carries trust. Maruti wants this one priced for first-time EV buyers, which puts it straight against the Tata Nexon EV, the electric SUV most families already shortlist. Range and price stay under wraps. The intent is clear though: high volume, city-friendly, affordable.

Maruti eWX: The Cheapest Upcoming Maruti EV

This is the one budget buyers actually want. The eWX is a small electric hatchback on a heavily localised platform, and Maruti is bringing it at an affordable price, maybe around ₹9 lakh. The trade-off is range. The eWX concept claims just 230 km on a full charge, so figure on 160 to 180 km once traffic and air-con eat into it. Fine for a daily city runabout. Tight for weekend trips. It takes on the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3. The problem? A 2028 timeline, which is a long wait for a car this central to Maruti's EV plans.

Maruti's 4th EV: A Premium Electric Car Still Under Wraps

The fourth electric car Maruti is going to launch is still a mystery. Maruti has confirmed a premium, lifestyle EV but shared almost nothing else. No name, no price, no firm launch date. Since the e-Vitara already covers the mid-size space, this one likely sits above it, chasing buyers who'd otherwise eye a pricier Tata or Hyundai. Treat it as a placeholder. Real details are a year or more away.

End Note

If you need a Maruti EV in the next year, the e-Vitara is the only real choice, with the YMC MPV close behind for families. The cheaper eWX and the premium EV are 2027 and 2028 stories, so don't hold your breath if your budget sits near ₹9 lakh. Before you wait it out, ask any Maruti dealer one blunt question: the confirmed on-road price and the real range, not the brochure figure. Maruti has finally committed to going electric. The only question left is whether you can wait long enough to buy one.
