Maruti Suzuki Makes Six Airbags Standard Across All Models

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has formally declared that all its models will now feature six airbags as a standard fitment. This huge upgradation is an indication of the brand's clear priority for passenger safety and underscores the increasing demand for safe automobiles in the Indian automotive industry.

At the helm of this revolution is the best-selling Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, now fitted with six airbags across all its models. The 2025 model also features three-point seatbelts for all seats and E20 fuel compatibility, which will run on a mixture of 20% ethanol and 80% petrol. As per company reports, the addition of these premium features has resulted in a marginal price change, with the Wagon R now available at ₹5.64 lakh to ₹7.47 lakh (ex-showroom).

Extending the safety upgrade, Maruti Suzuki has also equipped its base variants, like Alto K10 and Celerio, with six airbags. The vehicles now come equipped with a host of advanced safety features, including ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, rear parking sensors, and central locking systems. Whereas cars like the Swift already receive a cosmetic overhaul, the business confirmed that its lineup will go full six-airbag by the close of business later this year. Six airbags are presently only available in top-end variants in vehicles like the Fronx, Baleno, Ignis, and S-Presso.

This effort by Maruti Suzuki is a giant leap toward improving the safety features of Indian cars. By equipping even its lower-end models with sophisticated safety technology, the company is making passenger safety affordable for more consumers. It mirrors a larger industry trend wherein automobile safety features are no longer deemed a luxury item, but something that all drivers and passengers deserve on Indian roads.
