Is Your Vehicle Delhi Ready? The New Air Pollution Mitigation Plan!
Only BS6-compliant, CNG, and Electric Commercial Vehicles Would Be Allowed To Enter The Capital from November 1, 2025. Find Out More About The Air Pollution Mitigation Plan!

Under the Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025, announced on Tuesday by Delhi’s chief minister, Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government has proposed that only BS6-compliant, CNG, and electric commercial vehicles would be allowed to enter the city.
As Environment Day is approaching and the city faces an increased Air Quality Index every day, this is yet another approach by the government to control air pollution caused by vehicles. Earlier, the government had also prohibited the running of old ICE vehicles in the Capital, and now the centre has informed the Supreme Court that only BS6-compliant vehicles, CNG and electric vehicles, light, medium, and heavy vehicles will be permitted to enter Delhi, after November 1, 2025.
Under the new plan in action, there will be an installation of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at all entry points of Delhi. These cameras will recognise old vehicles, whether or not they are fit to be driven. The cars which would not meet the criteria will immediately be stopped. These cameras will not only be installed in the entrances but also at petrol pumps, in crowded areas, for stricter regulation.
Along with restrictions on vehicles, other measures would be taken, as announced by Delhi’s chief minister, Rekha Gupta.
There will be an installation of mist sprayers in areas that are categorised as pollution hotspots to manage dust particles.
The city will also experience artificial rainfall, using the cloud seeding technique. The Delhi Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IIT Kanpur to proceed with the same. Installation of Anti-smog guns on all high-rise buildings, especially commercial buildings above 3000 metres, will also be mandated.
