MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV: India’s First Mass-Market Plug-In Hybrid SUV

The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV is a new plug-in hybrid SUV from JSW MG Motor India, designed to combine the benefits of electric driving with the flexibility of a petrol engine. Positioned as a spacious seven-seater, the Hector Tomahawk PHEV is based on MG’s new ADAPT architecture and is offered with a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine paired with an electric motor and battery pack. MG claims a combined driving range of more than 1,100 km, making it an appealing option for buyers who frequently undertake long journeys.

Plug-In Hybrid Performance

The Hector Tomahawk PHEV gets a 20.5 kWh battery pack that enables electric-only driving for up to 115 km. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 102 bhp and 125 Nm, while the permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor develops 201 bhp and 237 Nm. The powertrain can operate in different modes, including Pure EV, Parallel, Series and Direct modes, allowing the SUV to balance electric efficiency and petrol-powered long-distance capability.

Bold Exterior Design

The Hector Tomahawk PHEV has a futuristic SUV design with a distinctive Hawk X front grille, aerodynamic alloy wheels and a tall, wide stance. Its 4,745 mm length and 2,810 mm wheelbase contribute to a spacious cabin and commanding road presence. The SUV is exclusively offered with a seven-seat, three-row configuration, making it suitable for larger families.

Spacious and Feature-Rich Interior

Inside, the Hector Tomahawk PHEV focuses on comfort, technology and practicality. The cabin gets a large touchscreen infotainment system, a 22.3 cm multi-information display, ambient lighting and connected-car technology. Its three-row layout provides seating for seven occupants, while the long wheelbase helps maximise passenger space.

Advanced Safety and Technology

MG has equipped the Hector Tomahawk PHEV with a range of modern safety and technology features. The SUV includes Level 2 ADAS and advanced battery-management technology. MG says its battery systems undergo extensive validation, including more than 2,000 bench tests and 490 vehicle validations, while a 24×7 Battery Management System continuously monitors battery health.

Price and Verdict

The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV is priced at ₹25.69 lakh (ex-showroom) and is offered exclusively as a seven-seater. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in November 2026. With its 115 km claimed electric range and more than 1,100 km combined range, the Hector Tomahawk PHEV offers a practical solution for buyers who want electric driving for daily use while retaining the convenience of a petrol engine for longer trips.
