Nissan Gravite Launches Retrofit Twin-Cylinder CNG at ₹82,999
Nissan fixes the biggest CNG problem in 7-seaters. Gravite’s twin-cylinder setup keeps all seats intact and here’s why it matters.

A 7-seater CNG car sounds perfect until you open the boot and find the third row buried under a cylinder the size of a water heater. Nissan just fixed that. The company has officially launched a government-approved CNG retrofit kit for the all-new Nissan Gravite, and the headline feature is a segment-first twin-cylinder setup that keeps every seat in your car intact.
The Nissan Gravite CNG kit is priced at an introductory ₹82,999 and will be available across 16 states. That is the cost of turning one of India's most affordable family MPVs into an even smarter daily commuter without giving up a single seat.
What Makes the Nissan Gravite CNG Kit Different
Most CNG conversions in this space force a painful trade-off. A single large cylinder eats into boot capacity, and in a sub-4-metre MPV, that typically means losing either cargo room or the third row. Nissan's twin-cylinder approach uses two cylinders in a stacked layout specifically engineered to preserve the Gravite's full 7-seater flexibility and modularity, with no compromise on third-row access.
The kit is fully developed, manufactured, and quality-assured by Motozen, and features a BS6.2 compliant sequential CNG system with ICAT certification, 8.1 mm heavy-duty cylinders, and Dynamic Advancer Technology optimised specifically for the Gravite's 1.0-litre engine. The fuel filling point is integrated neatly under the existing fuel lid, so nothing about the exterior looks aftermarket or cobbled together.
Customers can order and install the CNG kit through Nissan authorised dealers, keeping the entire purchase process within a trusted, warranty-valid network. A 3-year or 1,00,000 km warranty on kit components is provided via a third-party provider.
The Running Cost Math That Actually Matters in 2026
The Nissan Gravite CNG is ARAI-rated at 19.3 km per kg on the CNG powertrain. CNG prices in Indian metro cities typically run between ₹75 and ₹95 per kg depending on your city, compared to petrol hovering above ₹100 per litre in most markets. The per-kilometre savings are significant for anyone doing serious daily mileage.
If you run around 40 kilometres a day across five working days, the fuel savings over a full year can comfortably cover a large portion of the ₹82,999 kit cost. For families managing office commutes, school runs, and weekend trips out of the city, this math starts working in your favour fast. Cities with dense CNG infrastructure, including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Surat, are where this proposition makes the strongest case.
But Here's What You Should Check Before You Book the Kit
The twin-cylinder layout is clever, but it does ask something of the boot. Nissan has designed the stacked setup to protect third-row access, but cargo capacity versus the full-petrol configuration will see a change. The petrol-only Gravite can offer up to 625 litres of boot space with the third row folded out. The CNG configuration will be different, so check with your dealer for the exact usable numbers before you commit.
Performance with all seven seats occupied on CNG is also worth discussing. The Gravite's 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine produces 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque. That is adequate for city use and calm highway driving, but full-load CNG performance will feel noticeably softer. For high-mileage urban drivers, that is rarely a problem. For those doing long interstate trips with a full family, it is worth factoring in.
Should You Buy the Gravite CNG Kit Right Now?
If you already own a Gravite and live in a CNG-accessible city, the case for this kit is strong. The pricing is competitive, the installation is dealer-backed, and the twin-cylinder solution is the most practical CNG answer this segment has seen.
If you are still in the buying phase, the Gravite Tekna CNG variant is listed at around ₹9.40 lakh ex-showroom. That still puts a well-equipped, space-efficient 7-seater well within reach of most family budgets.
Nissan is rolling this kit out through its authorised dealer network immediately. Given Gravite's strong reception since launch, availability may move quickly in the busiest CNG markets. It is worth calling your nearest showroom this week rather than waiting.
