Kia Clavis Teased Ahead of May 8 Launch

Kia India has officially introduced the Clavis, a new and feature-packed next generation of its Carens MPV. The new one will come in on May 8, 2025, and will sit together with the present generation of the Carens. The move positions the Clavis as a top-end version without cannibalizing the present product, presenting the buyer with a wider palette of choice in the MPV space.

Design refreshes on the Clavis involve a fresh front grille, fresh three-pod LED headlamps, and connected tail-lamps at the rear. Fresh dual-tone alloy wheels also improve its road presence. Internally, the Clavis should deliver subtle refinements to dashboard layout and add advanced features like Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a 360-degree camera system, adding to the safety and convenience features of the Carens range.

Under the hood, the Clavis will be powered by the same powertrain choices that one finds in the Carens currently. These will range from a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor that produces 115hp and 144Nm of torque, through to a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor that produces 160hp and 253Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre diesel motor that produces 116hp and 250Nm. Transmission choices will be manual, iMT (clutchless manual), and DCT, depending on the engine. This uniformity brings about performance recognition, with enhancements to overall design and features.

The Clavis will be costlier than the current Carens, in the range of ₹10.60 lakh to ₹19.50 lakh (ex-showroom). With the Clavis as a flagship model, Kia hopes to attract buyers who want extra features and a new design, and retain the value-for-money Carens for buyers who are interested in affordability and utility.
