Honda Reveals New Hybrid, EV Tech For 2030 Models
Honda is bringing back driving joy! Discover their new V6 hybrid, lightweight platforms, and EVs that simulate gear shifts for the most engaging electric drive yet.

Honda is planning a major technology overhaul. At a recent tech workshop, the company revealed new hybrid systems and EV platforms for models launching through 2030, focusing on both efficiency and driving enjoyment.
A New Midsize Platform
Honda has developed a new lightweight platform for future midsize cars. This includes models like the next-generation City and Elevate. The architecture is 90 kg lighter than current Honda platforms.
This weight reduction improves both fuel efficiency and driving dynamics. Honda engineers have focused on increasing body rigidity while maintaining controlled flexibility for better grip and stability.
A More Powerful Hybrid System
For larger vehicles like the CR-V, Honda is introducing a new strong hybrid system. It features a new V6 engine combined with advanced electric drive units.
This system aims to deliver 10% better acceleration and 30% better fuel economy. It's also being engineered for superior towing capacity, targeting key requirements for markets like the United States.
Compact And Fun EVs
The Super One concept previews Honda's vision for small, enjoyable electric cars. This compact EV is designed to be nimble and engaging, with driving dynamics similar to a hot hatch.
It features a unique "Boost Mode" that increases power on demand. The car even simulates engine sounds and gearshift feelings to make electric driving more engaging for traditional car enthusiasts.
Focus On Driving Joy
A key theme across all new technologies is enhanced driving pleasure. Honda is introducing systems like Agile Handling Assist and a new pitch control technology.
These features are derived from Honda's robotics development. They help the vehicle's responses better match driver intent, making driving more intuitive and rewarding.
The India Strategy
While the Super One EV is not currently planned for India, the country remains a key market. Honda plans to launch 10 new models in India in the coming years, with seven being SUVs.
Some of the hybrid technologies showcased could appear in future India-specific models. The company aims to balance global imports with locally manufactured vehicles tailored to Indian preferences.
