CNG Kit On Offer for Nissan Magnite for ₹75,000 More
Nissan Magnite Gets CNG Retrofit Kit for ₹74,999, Available for 1.0L Petrol Manual Variant

Nissan has introduced a CNG retrofit kit for its sub-compact SUV, Magnite, enhancing the vehicle's popularity among customers looking for economical and cleaner fuel options. Priced at ₹74,999, the CNG kit is available for installation at authorized Nissan dealerships across certain Indian states. The retrofitment is offered for buyers who want to reduce their fuel expenses without investing in a factory-fitted CNG model.
The retrofit kit is intended for the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine version of the Nissan Magnite and is compatible only with the 5-speed manual transmission. It does not apply to the turbo or automatic variants. With a CNG-approved solution, Nissan aims to offer customers an affordable way of saving fuel without compromising the initial quality of build or nullifying the warranty of the vehicle.
The CNG kit is certified by the regulatory authorities and installed by knowledgeable technicians at certified fitment centers. It includes the hardware kits, labor charges, RTO (Registration Certificate) sanction, and other safety items such as a fire extinguisher. A three-year or 1,00,000-kilometer warranty is offered to customers on the CNG kit, which ensures peace of mind and long-term reliability.
Although publicized official mileage figures are not available yet from the company, internal approximations and market watch suggest that the CNG-installed Magnite can achieve fuel efficiency of around 24 km/kg under urban driving and even up to 30 km/kg on the highway. This will reduce the cost per kilometre significantly, making the Magnite a viable cost-cutting proposition even for regular users and long-distance drivers.
The CNG kit is currently available for sale in Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana. Nissan has plans to roll out this availability to other states in stages, depending on demand and infrastructure readiness. These states were targeted first due to their extremely high adoption rates of CNG cars and robust CNG supply chain.
This move is made when India's automotive industry is experiencing a sustained rise in demand for alternative fuel cars. High petrol and diesel prices, heightened environmental awareness, and stringent emission regulations are making most consumers opt for CNG as an acceptable alternative. CNG-fuelled cars are noted for low emissions and fuel-efficient use, which makes them suitable for city runs and intercity driving.
The already aggressive-in-price, compact, and value-for-money-focused Nissan Magnite gets even more versatile in its product mix with this CNG model. For those who need the higher ground clearance, space, and road presence of an SUV but also want to keep running costs in check, this new package is an enticing option.
The availability of company-approved retrofitment also reduces risks typically associated with aftermarket CNG conversions. Unapproved kits typically create insurance claims intricacies, warranty problems, and safety risks. With a tie-up with an approved vendor and installation at authorized dealerships, Nissan assures customers a safe and regulated option with after-sales support.
Also, this step allows existing Magnite owners to upgrade their car to CNG without having to buy a new vehicle. It also provides buyers of old cars with a choice of buying a Magnite along with the benefit of CNG, which can raise the resale value of the car.
Overall, the introduction of the CNG retrofitment kit is a strategic initiative by Nissan in India. It capitalizes on the growing demand for fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly cars while supplementing the appeal of Magnite in the fiercely competitive sub-compact SUV segment. As more cities invest in developing CNG infrastructure, the need for such flexible fuel solutions should grow incrementally.
