Bentley Confirms First EV for 2026, Teases New SuperSport
Bentley reveals a dual future: a sub-5-meter electric SUV coming in 2026 and a thrilling, lightweight SuperSport that breaks a major tradition for the brand.

Bentley is charting a new course for its future. The British luxury marque has confirmed its first electric vehicle will arrive in late 2026, while also promising that thrilling internal combustion engines aren't going away just yet.
The First Bentley EV
Bentley's debut electric model will be a "Luxury Urban SUV" measuring under five meters long. This positions it as a more compact, city-focused offering than the massive Bentayga.
The EV is expected to draw design inspiration from the striking EXP 15 concept. It will feature industry-leading charging technology, capable of adding 160 km of range in just seven minutes.
A Flexible Powertrain Strategy
In a significant shift, Bentley has extended the life of its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models. These will now remain on sale until at least 2035, responding to changing market demands.
The company's previous goal of going all-electric by 2035 appears to have been softened. This new strategy offers customers more choice in their transition to electrification.
The Thrill Isn't Gone
For purists, there's exciting news. Bentley confirmed that pure internal combustion engines will continue in limited-production, high-performance specials.
The first of these will be the new Continental GT SuperSport. This model was teased as the lightest Bentley of the modern era and features a groundbreaking change.
The Continental GT SuperSport
The upcoming SuperSport variant marks a major first for the Continental GT line. It will be the first-ever rear-wheel-drive Continental, breaking from the all-wheel-drive tradition.
This focus on lightweight construction and rear-wheel drive suggests Bentley is prioritizing driving engagement and agility for this limited-run model.
A Balanced Future
Bentley's announcement shows a pragmatic approach to the electric transition. Instead of a hard switch to EVs, the brand will offer everything from pure electric to plug-in hybrid and limited-run ICE specials.
This ensures that the company's legendary performance and craftsmanship can be experienced in multiple forms for years to come.
