VinFast's MPV 7 in India promises 517km of range and enough third-row space to end the usual family road trip arguments, but the story does not stop at the spec sheet.

Seven-seater EVs in India used to mean stretching your imagination. At Rs 24.49 lakh (ex-showroom), VinFast wants to change that with the VF MPV 7. It is a full-sized electric people mover that arrived in showrooms on April 15, 2026. The price is aggressive. The package, though, deserves a closer look.

The VF MPV 7 is the Vietnamese brand's third product in India after the VF6 and VF7 SUVs. Single variant, no option paralysis, just one Rs 24.49 lakh sticker to decide on. That sounds simple. But rivals like the Kia Carens Clavis EV start at Rs 17.99 lakh and offer a lot more flexibility in what you pay for.

VinFast VF MPV 7 Space and Dimensions: Biggest in the Segment

The VF MPV 7 is a genuinely large vehicle. At 4,740mm long with a 2,840mm wheelbase, it is 190mm longer than the Kia Carens Clavis EV and has a 60mm longer wheelbase. That extra length shows up exactly where it matters: the third row.

VinFast claims the best third-row space among its rivals. The theatre-style tiered seating layout backs that up. If your in-laws or kids always end up in the rearmost seats on every trip, this is worth paying attention to.

VinFast VF MPV 7 Battery, Range and Charging

Power comes from a 60.13kWh battery driving a single front-mounted motor. Output is 204hp and 280Nm of torque. The ARAI-certified range is 517km. Real-world numbers will fall short of this, as they always do, but that figure is still 27km higher than the top Clavis EV claims.

The 0-100kmph sprint takes under nine seconds. DC fast charging at 80kW takes the battery from 10 to 70 percent in 30 minutes. Three driving modes (Eco, Normal, Sport) and four regen braking levels give you enough control over how you use that range day to day.

VinFast VF MPV 7 Interior Features

Inside, the VF MPV 7 goes minimal. One 10.1-inch touchscreen handles infotainment, instrumentation, and climate control. No dedicated driver's display. That is a deliberate choice, but buyers used to a separate instrument cluster may find it takes some getting used to.

You do get wireless charging, leatherette seats across all three rows, a sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS. Safety covers six airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, TCS, and all-wheel disc brakes. Six colour options are on offer, from the subtle Zenith Grey to the bolder Solar Ruby and Moonlit Ocean.

Boot space with all seats up is just 126 litres. That is tight for a vehicle this large. Fold down both rear rows and it opens up to 1,240 litres, but that means the car is no longer carrying seven people.

VinFast VF MPV 7 Ownership Benefits

This is where VinFast makes its strongest case. The brand is offering a 75 percent buyback guarantee on the ex-showroom price. On a Rs 24.49 lakh car, that is a resale floor of roughly Rs 18.37 lakh. No rival in this segment comes close to that commitment.

Add to that a 7-year vehicle warranty, a 10-year battery warranty, and 3 years of free maintenance. Trade in a petrol or diesel car and you get a Rs 2 lakh exchange bonus. Free charging is available at VinFast's V-Green stations until March 31, 2029. As ownership packages go, this is one of the most complete in the Indian EV space right now.

Bookings are open at Rs 21,000 on VinFast's official website. Deliveries are expected to begin shortly.

VinFast VF MPV 7 vs Kia Carens Clavis EV vs BYD eMax 7

At Rs 24.49 lakh, the VF MPV 7 is Rs 50,000 cheaper than the top Kia Carens Clavis EV at Rs 24.99 lakh. But the Kia's top trim brings ventilated front seats, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a powered driver seat, a Bose 8-speaker system, rear seat tables, and the option of captain seats. The VF MPV 7 has none of those.

The BYD eMax 7 starts at Rs 26.90 lakh and edges ahead on battery size and outright performance. But it also costs Rs 2.41 lakh more at entry level.

If you are cross-shopping: the VF MPV 7 wins on space, range, and ownership perks. The Clavis EV wins on features and brand familiarity. The eMax 7 wins on performance, at a higher price.

Should You Book the VinFast VF MPV 7? Our Honest Take

The VF MPV 7 is built for one buyer: someone who needs maximum cabin space, wants strong claimed range, and values a rock-solid ownership safety net. The buyback guarantee alone changes the risk calculus for a new brand.

But if a premium, well-equipped cabin matters as much as space, the Kia Carens Clavis EV at a similar price is hard to ignore. Test drive both before you decide. The Rs 21,000 booking amount is refundable, so there is no rush to commit without driving it first.
