The favourite "unbreakable" Toyota Hilux pickup is getting a major makeover and new photos from a fuel station in Guatemala give us the clearest look yet at its new face. Toyota is putting the final touches on the new-generation Hilux and it’s shaping up to be a significant step up.

Spied Exterior Features of Toyota Hilux

The front end has been completely reworked. Forget the current look. This new Hilux sports a bold, upright grille with a modern mesh pattern. The bumper is more prominent and the headlights are sharper, giving it a tougher, more commanding presence on the road.

From the side, the familiar, rugged silhouette remains, but it now rolls on a fresh set of alloy wheels. Move to the back, and you’ll spot redesigned tail lights. It’s a comprehensive refresh designed to make sure the Hilux looks the part as a modern, premium workhorse.

Spied Features of the Interior

This is where the real upgrade happens. Leaked design patents have shown a cabin that leaps into the modern age. Imagine a large, freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, much like you’d find in a high-end SUV, paired with a fully digital driver’s display.

For the first time, the Hilux could offer features like ventilated seats, powered front seats and even electrically operated rear windows. An electronic parking brake and a head-up display are also on the cards. This means you get the same rugged capability but with the comfort and tech of a modern family car.

Powertrain Change of Toyota Hilux

For those who rely on the Hilux's legendary performance, the heart remains the same. The trusted 2.8-litre diesel engine is expected to carry over. That means you still get a mighty 204 PS and a massive 500 Nm of torque with the automatic transmission.

All the serious off-road hardware is staying too. The 4WD system with high and low range, the electronic differential lock and downhill assist control are all part of the package.

When Can I Buy the Toyota Hilux?

Mark your calendars for a global debut later this year, likely at the Thailand Motor Expo. Sales in international markets like Australia and Europe should begin in early 2026.

While an India launch is still a bit farther out, possibly in 2027, it will be worth the wait. When it arrives, it will continue its rivalry with the Isuzu V-Cross and the Mahindra Scorpio N-based pickup.
