Tata Tiago and Tiago EV Facelift 2026 Launches on May 28

Tata is doing something quietly interesting on May 28. It is relaunching the cheapest car it sells, the Tiago, along with the Tiago EV facelift. Now the interesting part is the timing of this launch. Just after 8 days Maruti will launch India’s first 100% ethanol flex fuel car.

What Is New in the Tata Tiago Facelift 2026

The new Tata Tiago gets sleeker LED headlamps, eyebrow-shaped DRLs, vertical LED tail lamps, a blacked-out grille on the petrol version and a body-coloured grille on the EV. New dual-tone alloys, black ORVMs, a black roof, and a shark-fin antenna give it a stance the outgoing Tiago never quite had.

The bigger story sits inside. The dashboard has been redone with a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, a separate floating digital instrument cluster, dual phone trays, rear AC vents, USB Type-C ports, push-button start, and that 360-degree camera. Tata has kept the physical AC controls. Buyers will quietly love that.

The 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and the iCNG twin-cylinder setup carry over without changes. The outgoing Tiago sells between ₹4.60 lakh and ₹7.68 lakh. So the facelift's expected ₹5.20 lakh start represents a modest hike for a meaningful jump in kit. Six airbags are expected as standard, and a Bharat NCAP 5-star rating is on the way.

Tata Tiago EV Facelift: Same Cabin, Cleaner Future

The Tata Tiago EV facelift launches the same day. Same 10.25-inch touchscreen, same digital cluster, same 360-degree camera, plus a fabric-wrapped upper dashboard and an illuminated Tata.ev logo on the steering. The 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh battery packs carry over with claimed ranges of 223 km and 293 km.

Expect a starting price near ₹8 lakh. The MG Comet EV could be the rival it has to beat.

Key Takeaways

If you were about to book a Maruti Swift, an i20, or even the outgoing Tiago this week, just wait. The new Tiago at ₹5 lakh and change, with a 360 camera, six airbags, wireless Android Auto, and a Bharat NCAP 5-star history, will reset the value math for first-time buyers.

If the Maruti Suzuki WagonR was your shortlist, the answer needs more thought. The flex-fuel launch on June 5 will not change your fuel bill in 2026 or 2027. It might change a lot from 2028 onward.

For most buyers in the ₹5 to 7 lakh bracket today, the Tata Tiago facelift 2026 is the more honest upgrade this month. Maruti's big moment is real, but it is a launch for tomorrow's India, not this evening's drive home.
