Tata Harrier EV Rolls Off the Line, Set to Electrify India

Alright, buckle up, here's the lowdown on the new Tata Harrier EV.

Tata Motors is officially building the Harrier EV. Production is underway in Pune. This electric SUV is a big deal, it's their most advanced EV yet.

What makes it special? First, it's Tata's first all-wheel drive EV. That means better grip and control, especially in tricky conditions. Bookings are open now, and deliveries are planned for July next year.

Let's talk numbers. The Tata Harrier EV comes in rear-wheel drive (RWD) with two battery options, 65 kWh and 75 kWh. The bigger battery gives you more range. Prices for the RWD models start around 21.49 lakh. The all-wheel drive (AWD) model is pricier, starting at 28.99 lakh. These are showroom prices, remember that charger will cost extra.

Power comes from electric motors. The RWD version makes 238 horsepower. The AWD model, with two motors, cranks out 313 horsepower and 504Nm of torque. This means it is quick. Tata claims 0 to 100 kph in just 6.3 seconds with "Boost" mode.

Range is always key for EVs. Tata says the 75kWh RWD can go up to 627km on a full charge. The AWD version gets about 622km. Charging takes about 10.7 hours with a standard AC charger. Use a DC fast charger, and you can get from 20 to 80 percent in just 25 minutes.

Inside, you get a huge 14.53-inch screen, plus a digital driver's display. There are fancy features like a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and a JBL sound system. It even has the ability to charge other devices or even other EVs.

Safety is covered with seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) which help prevent accidents.

The Harrier EV is important because it shows Tata is serious about electric vehicles. It has the potential to shake up the Indian market and give buyers a compelling electric SUV option. The all-wheel drive is particularly interesting. It will be one to watch.
