Toyota has quietly increased prices in India. The hike affects four popular models.
This comes just months after prices were cut due to a GST reduction. The increase is focused on Toyota's rebadged Maruti Suzuki vehicles.
Toyota Price Hike: Affected Models
1. Toyota Glanza Price Increase
The Toyota Glanza hatchback is now more expensive. Prices have risen by up to ₹15,800.
Its new price range is ₹6.46 lakh to ₹9.44 lakh (ex-showroom). It remains Toyota's entry-level petrol and CNG hatchback.
2. Toyota Taisor Price Increase
The Urban Cruiser Taisor crossover sees a hike. It costs up to ₹16,400 more.
It now starts at ₹7.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The top variant is priced at ₹12.39 lakh.
3. Toyota Rumion Price Increase
The Rumion MPV is now dearer. Its price has gone up by up to ₹16,400.
The three-row MPV now ranges from ₹10.51 lakh to ₹13.86 lakh (ex-showroom).
4. Toyota Hyryder Price Increase
The Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV gets the biggest hike. Its price has increased by up to ₹21,000.
The SUV's new price band is ₹10.99 lakh to ₹20.19 lakh (ex-showroom). This covers petrol, CNG, and hybrid versions.
A Critical Look at the Strategy
This move raises a key question. Why are only the Maruti-derived models getting more expensive?
Toyota's own global models, like the Innova or Fortuner, are unaffected. This suggests the hike is tied to input costs or pricing strategy specific to the partnership, potentially making these rebadged cars slightly less competitive on value.
