Mahindra XEV 9S: 7-Seater Electric SUV Debuts November 27

Mahindra is about to fill a major gap in the EV market. The new XEV 9S, a 7-seater electric SUV, will make its world debut on November 27.

Expected Price of Mahindra XEV 9S

The XEV 9S will be a premium offering. It is expected to be priced between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). This positions it above the smaller XEV 9e in Mahindra's electric lineup.

This makes it the first mass-market three-row electric SUV in India. It aims to bring electric power to large families.

A Unique Position of XEV 9S With No Direct Rivals

The XEV 9S will enter a segment with no direct competition. It won't face another mass-market, three-row electric SUV at its price point.

Other three-row EVs like the Kia Carens Clavis EV and BYD eMax 7 are MPVs. This gives the Mahindra XEV 9S a unique appeal as a stylish, capable SUV.

Design and Styling

The XEV 9S will feature a more conventional SUV shape than the sleeker BE 6 and XEV 9e. Teasers show sleek LED DRLs and triangular headlights up front.

The overall silhouette and rear section are expected to share a family resemblance with the popular XUV700. This should make it instantly recognizable as a Mahindra.

Mahindra XEV 9S is Loaded With Features

Like its stablemates, the XEV 9S will be packed with technology. A key confirmed feature is an openable panoramic sunroof.

The cabin will likely host a triple-screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation. Expect premium amenities like ventilated seats, a premium sound system, leatherette upholstery, and Level 2 ADAS for safety.

Powertrain and Battery Options

The Mahindra XEV 9S will likely use the same 59kWh and 79kWh battery packs as the BE 6 and XEV 9e. These are modern LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) units.

While other models are rear-wheel drive, Mahindra may offer an all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant for the XEV 9S. This would add a motor to the front axle for improved traction and performance.
