As part of an initiative to enhance access to high-end features in the subcompact SUV segment, Hyundai Motor India has launched two new trims - S Smart and SX Smart - in its Exter range. The new variants, which are reasonably priced, are aimed at offering a value-for-money option to customers looking for features such as an electric sunroof, LED lights, and AMT (automated manual transmission) without consuming a lot of money.
The S Smart variant is now the most affordable Exter to receive an electric sunroof, making it a segment leader. In addition to this, the vehicle also receives LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, rear AC vents, a highline tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and 15-inch styled steel wheels. It is available with petrol manual, petrol AMT, and CNG manual powertrains that offer widespread availability of fuel options. The petrol MT starts from ₹7.68 lakh, the petrol AMT at ₹8.39 lakh, and the CNG model at ₹8.63 lakh (ex-showroom), according to Hyundai.
The SX Smart trim borrows even more from the S Smart package with additions like smart key with push-button start, projector headlamps, and shark fin antenna. It borrows everything from the equipment of the S Smart trim, but is more convenient and better-looking. The SX Smart can be had in petrol MT, petrol AMT, and CNG manual options at ₹8.16 lakh, ₹8.83 lakh, and ₹9.18 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.
Hyundai is also offering an optional 9-inch infotainment touchscreen system for ₹14,999 with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear parking camera, and a three-year warranty. On launch, the company stated, "We have got an overwhelming response for the Hyundai Exter. In fact, Exter has become one of the most loved SUVs amongst new-age buyers.". To enhance the value of our customers' experience and offer them an increased choice, we have introduced 2 new variants – S and SX. These variants feature advanced high-tech features such as Smart Key with Push Button Start, 8.0-inch Touchscreen & Digital Cluster, Wireless Phone Charger and others, offering our customers an attractive value proposition."
With the launch of these two new variants, Hyundai is tactfully fortifying its presence in the congested micro-SUV segment by offering more options in price points. Offering sunroof and AMT at value-for-money prices will likely draw a broader base, such as young city buyers looking for a feature-packed and affordable SUV.
